Workplace Accidents
Trust Experienced Attorneys to Obtain Fair Coverage
A workplace injury has the capacity to drastically alter a person’s life. They are often severe and can require months, if not years, from which to recover. While the majority of employers try to help their employees by granting the appropriate coverage, there are others who try to avoid paying settlements by blaming the injured person. When this occurs, turn to Howerton, Dorris, Stone & Lambert for experienced workers’ compensation attorneys. With nearly a century spent representing people in Southern Illinois, we understand what it takes to obtain compensation for our clients.
How Benefits are Determined
Compensation for injuries at work is calculated using a table found in §8(e) of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act. This payment schedule takes the worker’s weekly salary and multiplies it by the number of weeks the injury warrants. For example, loss of a finger receives significantly less than the loss of an arm. This is done to ensure workers are given sufficient funds to fully recover. However, sometimes employers will fight a worker’s claim. For this reason, retaining the services of experienced workers’ comp attorneys is crucial to obtaining a better outcome for your case.
